UKSP Scoops Top Hospitality Web Award
UKSP, the leading information site for careers, training and development in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism (HLTT) developed by People 1st, has been named Website of the Year at the 2011 Caterer and Hotelkeeper Web Awards – beating off stiff competition from over thirty entries.
The title was awarded following an online vote by Caterer and Hotelkeeper readers, the Web Awards judging panel and the senior editors of the Caterer Group, who praised UKSP for its “attractive design” and clear calls to action that “encourage users to explore the site further.” The judges were also impressed by the website's fun and interactive resources, "bringing in all media elements of a high-quality and modern website."
UKSP, which champions careers in HLTT and supports businesses to develop their employees and find new talent, also scooped the best Services Provider Website title at the awards, which recognise and reward the people and organisations responsible for developing some of the most effective hospitality websites on the internet today.
Among the innovative features that really made www.uksp.co.uk stand out from the competition are its personality test, which matches site users' personality type with their ideal HLTT roles, and an interactive career map that not only shows the various career progression routes from entry level to management, but the qualifications and training that employees will need to get there.
As well as helping to promote the exciting variety of roles on offer across the HLTT industries to future talent, UKSP also allows businesses to create ‘Good Employer' profiles, advertise job vacancies to over 45,000 registered users and access information on training and development for their staff. Ultimately, the site can take its users on a complete journey, from initial queries about careers in HLTT to full employment with a Good Employer, something that no other site currently offers. It also offers clear, step-by-step information on the best training and qualifications available to help employees progress through the ranks, which ties into People 1st's wider work to professionalise the sector's workforce.
Lesley Potter, communications director at People 1st, commented: “UKSP provides a really important service for the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry. Navigating career paths, training and qualifications can be a minefield for individuals and employers alike, but UKSP helps people to make sense of this information it in an engaging and effective way.
“With employment projections suggesting that HLTT businesses will need to fill over 100,000 vacancies every year until 2017, UKSP has a vital role to play in publicising the wealth of opportunity available in this vibrant sector and helping businesses find the talented people that they need. It also provides a key tool to assist unemployed people back into work, enabling them to find rewarding careers in a growth industry.”
